Get on Losinj by car
- If you are arriving by car there are 3 options:
- the most common way is via island of Krk (Valbiska – Merag ferry to island of Cres)
a) If you are coming from direction Zagreb, use A1 highway, turn to A6 at Bosiljevo (direction Rijeka), go out at Oštrovica exit (you can go to Kikovica/Rijeka exit, it is 15min longer and you will pay more but it is highway all the way). Follow directions to Krk.
b) If you are coming from Italy, Slovenia (A7 highway) follow the signs to Rijeka, then follow directions to Krk.
After Malinska, follow to Valbiska port (from the brigde to Valbiska 25-30min). Take Ferry (20-25min). From Merag to Mali Losinj (1h 15min).

TIPS:
- buy tickets online. why? In the port of Merag, Brestova and Porozina is one line road, the queue is sometimes 2,3km long – you don’t want to walk to the selling point. If you are arriving at the last moment, you don’t need to stop to buy tickets – sometimes really helps. Search the date and buy tickets at https://www.jadrolinija.hr/en/home
- the ticket is valid for earlier rides (even for the same date), so if you buy ticket for 19:00, you can go on the ferry at 10:00. There is the notice at their web shop: “Online ticket is valid for any voyage on the selected date, but does not guarantee boarding at a specific departure time. Boarding is based on arrival order.”
- In summer, if there is a lot of cars the 2 (sometimes even 3) ferries ride all the time without schedule. Prepare yourself there is possibility that you will wait for an hour or two.
- There is a good pizza at Valbiska bar
- You can check traffic and road conditions at https://www.hak.hr/info/stanje-na-cestama?lang=en#traffic-flow-and-road-conditions and web cameras at ferry ports (useful for Valbiska): https://www.hak.hr/info/kamere/#trajektne-luke-i-pristanista
- Beware there are 2 small bridges on the island of Losinj causing road closure at 9:00 (in Mali Losinj and Osor), and 17:30 (Osor), 18:30 (Mali Losinj) – this is important if you are going home and catching exact ferry
- There is a good website https://www.putovnica.net/en/transport where you can find mostly correct info, but also check at the links mentioned
